FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) -One Week, One Street Mission Project

June 22-26, 2026 9am-4pm

Maplewood, Hazelwood, Collingwood Ave (North of Webber)

Q 1: Do I have to sign up for all five days?
A: No, you can sign up for one or more.

Q 2: Do I have to work from 9am-4pm?
A: Yes, we would prefer our volunteers commit for the full day.

Q 3: Should I bring a lunch?
A: No, lunch and beverages will be provided for you by area churches.

Q 4: Should I bring gloves?
A. Yes. If you have your own work or garden gloves, please bring them. We will have some gloves available if you do not have any.

Q 5: Should I bring tools?
A: Not necessarily. The tool trailer will provide tools for volunteers. Some church groups prefer to bring their own tools so they know there are enough for each person in their group.

Q 6: Should I bring water?
A: You may bring your own water, however, we will have water filling stations provided for you at the headquarters tent and reusable water bottles for each volunteer.

Q 7: Is there an age limit?
A: Yes. No one under the age of 13 may volunteer. Youth 13 to 17 must have a parent sign a liability form PRIOR to the project and have it with them on their first day. Children under 13 should not attend as this is a job site that requires heavy lifting, and/or skills. Email Tamara at
oneweekonestreet@gmail.com for a copy of the volunteer liability form.

Q 8: Will there be supervision?
A: Yes, there will be many adults supervising projects and people. However, if there is a group of 5 or more youth ages 13-17, they must come with an adult.

Q 9: Where do I check-in?
A: There will be a large tent on Hazelwood Ave. Saginaw, 48601 (north of Webber) where all volunteers must check in.

Q 10: Where can I park?
A: Parking will be along the streets on Maplewood, Hazelwood, and Collingwood Avenues (north of Webber).

Q 11: What happens if it rains?
A: We plan on working in the rain unless there is lightning. If rain is predicted, wear protective clothing. Volunteers may take shelter under the tent to wait out the rain.

Q 12: What should I wear?
A: Please wear closed-toed shoes. Wear work clothing that you don’t mind getting paint on. Dress according to the weather but keep in mind that “modest is hottest”.

Q 13: Does it cost anything to participate?
A: No, but donations are appreciated and go towards materials needed for this project or for the following year. Checks can be made out to
One Week, One Street and mailed to
2800 Holland Ave.
Suite D.
Saginaw, MI 48601

Q14: Is there an orientation for group leaders prior to the project?
A: Groups will be given a safety instruction sheet and project list at check-in. Every group must go over the instructions with their group before starting their projects.

Q 15: What is the purpose of this project?
A: We believe that showing love to our neighbors requires action and that the Great Lakes Bay Region cares about the future of Saginaw and its residents. We feel especially that God calls the Church to help bring resources and volunteers to revitalize and bring hope to neighborhoods in
most need and demonstrate love to their neighbors.

Q 16: Should I let someone know if I have a particular skill or tool that could benefit the project?
A: Yes. Let Tamara Kilda know at check-in, or preferably 2-3 weeks before, so she can assign you to specific tasks. We need masons, carpenters, landscapers, tree trimmers, lawn mowers, and people that can bring and use a chain saw.
